Arielâs new parents help disabled dogs learn to surf, so she gets to spend her life near the ocean â just like any proper mermaid should!

Minnesota became âThe Land of 10,000 Catsâ last weekend when Minneapolis cat lovers joined in the streets to observe the cityâs housecats on display.

The event had an incredible turnout â watch hundreds of people parade in the name of cats.
Woman Acts Fast After Dog Eats Poison
Melissa was on a walk with her dog Sammy when he curiously picked up an unusual green block.
Sammy swallowed part of the block, which turned out to be a chunk of rat poison in the street.
She forced Sammy to throw it up and rushed her to the vet. Melissaâs vet offers some useful information for all of us pet owners in this video.
Watch out for these blocks of poison on neighborhood streets.

Strange Pet Behaviors - Should You Be Worried?
If youâve ever worried about your petâs strange behavior, itâs important to remember that there might be a perfectly natural reason for their actions.
Animals always have a reason for doing the things they do, but as humans, we donât necessarily understand those motives.
We love our pets, so itâs only natural to worry about their well-being, especially when they begin exhibiting behaviors which might seem odd or distressed. Yet most of the time, thereâs a perfectly natural and logical explanation â from the animalâs perspective, anyway!
âI Wish I Could Talk to ThemâŠâ
If your pet could talk back to you, the one phrase it would probably use most of all would be âIâm okayâ. Cats and dogs are often restricted in their ability to do things we take for granted; whereas we can scratch an itchy back, they might need to roll around on the floor.
You might think theyâre breakdancing, whereas in reality theyâre just enjoying some relief from itching.
This brings us onto some seemingly odd behaviors that make perfect sense from an animalâs perspectiveâŠ
Weâll look at two common dog quirks, followed by two common cat quirks and find out if thereâs anything to worry about.
Odd Behaviors in Dogs
#1
Staring Into Space
(for a little too long)
Is there a ghost in the room? Is your dog having a mild stroke? In reality, itâs probably concentrating on something.
Dogs have incredibly sharp senses of smell and hearing, so they may have smelled or heard something interesting.
While concentrating on a sound or scent trail too faint for a human to detect, they might exhibit a blank expression and oddly still body language.
#2
Chasing Their Tails
Funny, but strange.
Watching a dog chase its tail is comedic to begin with, but it can quickly become a distressing sight.
In truth, many dogs like the adrenaline rush of spinning round in circles, which lets them expel some energy and demonstrate their excitement.
It can occasionally signal boredom or anxiety, but this is unlikely to be the case if your dog is well-walked and has toys to play with.
Odd Behaviors in Cats
#1
Coughing Up Hairballs
Why does it have to be so dramatic?
Every cat owner is familiar with that horrible âhup hupâ noise as their pet prepares for a good hurl. However, vomiting is natural in cats â theyâll deliberately eat grass (which is an emetic) to help bring up something thatâs causing digestive discomfort.
Their barbed tongues tend to ingest a lot of hair which often needs to come out as a pellet, and they tend to feel better within seconds of vomiting â though beware the encore of a second round!
#2
Disappearing
(Itâd be easier to find Bigfoot!)
Cat owners often strategically position beds around the house, only to find their pet squashed into a corner or lurking inside a wardrobe.
Cats love dark hiding places where their excellent night vision comes into its own, and being confined affords them a sense of protection. Donât be concerned if your cat makes a beeline for boxes or bags â they just like being hidden.
General Rule of Thumb
âWhen Should I Call the Vet?â
Nobody knows your pet better than you do.
If your cat or dog begins acting oddly, it might simply be a new behavior or a response to new stimuli â but youâre in the best position to tell if their actions seem agitated or unduly repetitive. Your vet will be happy to talk through your animalâs behavior, and advise whether itâs worth getting them checked out â for your own peace of mind as much as anything.
